The Raspberry Pi Camera Module V2 uses an 8MP Sony IMX219 sensor and VCM autofocus to provide a flexible imaging option for Raspberry Pi-based products. It delivers 3296 × 2480 resolution through a MIPI CSI interface and uses a moderate field of view that is suitable for capturing both the main subject and its immediate surroundings.
Features
The autofocus lens gives this module an advantage in devices where the subject does not remain on one fixed focal plane. It can be used for close object capture, general visual observation or equipment in which different users present objects at different distances. The 75.6-degree diagonal field of view is narrower than the IMX708 wide-angle configuration, allowing the subject to occupy a larger portion of the image while retaining useful surrounding information.

Fixed-focus and alternative lens configurations can also be considered when the original device has a stable working distance.
