SmartSens, a leading Chinese CMOS image sensor (CIS) supplier, has officially launched its first 200MP CMOS sensor for smartphone applications, the SCC80XS. The product has successfully passed compatibility tests with major smartphone manufacturers and is expected to enter mass production in the fourth quarter of 2025, providing core support for the imaging upgrade of high-end flagship smartphones.
As a key product for SmartSens to enter the ultra-high-pixel market, the SCC80XS is built based on the advanced 22nm Stack process and the SmartClarity®-SL Pro technology platform, featuring a pixel size of 0.61μm and an optical size of 1/1.28 inch. The product integrates a number of self-developed core technologies: the SFCPixel®-SL technology reduces the read noise to as low as 0.7e⁻ in 200MP mode, a 47% decrease compared to industry products of the same specification; the combination of Narrow BDTI™ and Low-n Grid optical technologies not only minimizes light crosstalk to ensure color reproduction accuracy but also boosts the peak quantum efficiency (PQE) to 80%, significantly enhancing low-light imaging performance. In addition, the sensor supports full focal length zoom shooting at 50MP/12.5MP and 4K 120fps high-frame-rate HDR video recording, with a dynamic range of 85dB, making it flexibly adaptable to multi-scenario needs such as main cameras, telephoto lenses, and wide-angle lenses of flagship smartphones.
SmartSens has now ranked among the top tier of global smartphone CIS suppliers. The launch of the SCC80XS marks a technological leap for the company from 50MP to 200MP. Its core technical papers have been included in the International Solid-State Circuits Conference (ISSCC) - a top global conference on semiconductor design - which affirms its technological innovation capabilities. With the implementation of mass production, this product will not only contribute to the localization replacement process of high-end sensors in China but also is expected to drive the smartphone imaging industry into the era of widespread adoption of 200MP ultra-high definition.
